Summary, Etc. As a child, the author spent Sundays at her grandparents' farm in Kinzua, PA. Kinzua was different. It was quiet and fresh. Life moved more slowly and easily there in the safe, conservative1950's. In the 1960's, the village and adjoining communities were demolished to make way for the dam and lake that would flood the valley. Millions in property damage and countless lives have been saved due to the sacrifice of the residents of Kinzua. The eviction was neither fair nor humane. The heartache remains for many over fifty years later.
